In the next few months we will be adding some new categories of posts to this blog. MoveIn is a diverse community with people from various backgrounds, ethnicities, age groups, denominations and social networks. We all have different interests, hobbies and jobs. But we all have one thing in common. We have intentionally chosen to live among the unreached, urban poor in our cities. To model our lives after Jesus, Immanuel, God with us, who gave up his place in heaven to dwell in the darkness and brokenness of humanity. All we bring to our communities is Christ in us. Just as Jesus entered the world as a baby, completely dependent on those around him, having to learn to eat and walk and speak, we hope to come to our communities as learners.
So how do we find practical ways to follow in Jesus' footsteps? What does his lifestyle look like in the 21st century?
The DIY posts on this blog will be dedicated to how we are learning to answer these questions together. Each DIY post will highlight one practical idea or lifestyle challenge that a MoveIner has learned through living among the poor. We have so much to learn from our communities and neighbours and we have so many life lessons we can share with one another. Lessons on how to live simply and the joy that is found in being free from materialism. Lessons on how to fight off those pesky pests! Lessons on how to make the most of small spaces and tight budgets, while practicing generosity and hospitality. And many many more!
Stay tuned for our first post on capsule wardrobes!
